The Pan Arab Journal of Neurosurgery is a peer reviewed bi-annual
publication. Authors are invited to submit for publication articles
reporting original work in Neurosurgery; however Review articles are by
invitation only However, those received and determined to be of an
outstanding nature will be considered for publication. Other regular
features within the journal include, Case Reports, Case Reviews, Letters
to the Editor and Forthcoming Events which detail upcoming symposia, conferences and workshops
located primarily in the Middle
East and North African countries.

The journal complies with the Uniform Require-ments for manuscripts
submitted to Biomedical Journals, also known as the “Vancouver style”,
“Uniform Requirements”.
Submission of Manuscripts: The Pan Arab Journal of
Neurosurgery welcomes manuscripts by personal disc or electronically
by email. However, any submissions sent by email must be
'win-zipped.' Manuscripts written in
English, with Abstract in Arabic, if possible, must be submitted
in triplicate in double-spaced typing on pages of uniform style
(A4), together with three (3) copies of any illustrations. Papers must be divided into sections, headed by captions
(e.g. Summary, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion,
References). Manuscripts and figures submitted for review will not be returned
to authors whether the editorial decision is to accept, revise or
reject. The only exception will occur when the Editor returns a
manuscript with hand-written editorial suggestions to authors to
aid in revision of the paper.

Acknowledgements should be included in an Acknowledgement
section at the end of the article.
Structured Abstracts: Original articles must con-tain
a structured summary of not more than 200 words and an Arabic summary
should also be provided.
The following are typical headings: Background, Methods, Results
and Conclusion.

Abstract for Case Reports: Case Reports are to be
preceded by a brief unstructured abstract of 100 words or less.
Keywords: Keywords should be provided on the same
sheet of paper as the summary according to the rules given in “Uniform
Requirements” (see above).
References: References should be accurate and are the sole
responsibility of the author(s). They must be numbered alphabetically
at the end of the article and numbered accordingly in the text.
Units of Measurement: Le Systeme international de’Units
(SI) are preferred. Equivalent values in traditional units should
be given, if thought to be necessary.
Footnotes: Footnotes to material in the text should
not be used, but their use is encouraged in tables.
Tables: Tables must be prepared as advised by “Uniform
Requirements”.
Ethical Consent: When experiments on humans are being
reported, a declaration as indicated in “Uniform Requirements” must
be incorporated.
Title Page: The title page should conform to the following
guidelines:
The title should
be as meaningful and as brief as possible.
Only five (5) authors should be listed for any one article providing the
preferred given name, initials, last name, highest
degrees and professional certification of each
author.
In a separate
paragraph, identify the current departmental
and institutional affiliation of each author.
The full mailing address of the
corresponding author,
and if desired, his or her telephone
number, fax and email address may also be published.
Permission to Reprint: Whenever a manuscript contains
material (text, tables, figures, charts, etc.) which is protected
by copyright, it is the obligation of the author to secure written
permission from the holder of the copyright.
Unique Status of Manuscripts and Assignment of Copyright:
A paper submitted for publication must be the work of the author
or authors submitting it, and neither it, nor any similar work,
should be under consideration for publication or have been published
elsewhere by any other Journal, prior to publication in the Pan
Arab Journal of Neurosurgery.
All authors must sign a declaration to this effect, together with
written consent to publish after amendment if necessary by the Editors.
Papers accepted for publication become the exclusive property of
the Pan Arab Journal of Neurosurgery and may not be reproduced elsewhere,
wholly or in part without the consent of the Editors.
Publication of a paper does not imply the Journal’s or the Editor’s
agreement with the statements or opinions expressed therein; full
responsibility lies with the author(s).
Papers are only accepted for publication with the understanding that
the authors will permit editorial amendments, though proofs will
always be submitted to authors for assignment of copyright before
going to press.
